MAVL R2 - G10 UTSSU v Canberra Heat

Set 1
Heat - Beck, Young, Borgeaud, Power, Farrer, Tyrrell, C Currie (L)
UTSSU - D Skinner, J Skinner, Carroll, Minchin, Flexman, Tutty, Doran (L)

Long scrabling rallies start off this game from both teams and keeps the scores level so far.  At 7-7 Suckling replaces Minchin for UTSSU to serve.  UTSSU's attack is very hit and miss as most of the spikes are sent long just over the top of the block and out the back.  Their errors are giving the Heat the lead at the moment up 12-10.  A passing error and attack error from the Heat let UTSSU back into this game to level the scores at 12-12.  Doug Skinner sends a winner over the net to stat a kill and UTSSU hit the lead 13-12, as the Heat call for a time out.

Less errors now and smarter hitting from the Heat and they have taken the lead back from UTSSU.  But this is such a see-sawing game, teams are up and down and the lead keeps changing every few points.  After having a 2 point lead, the HEat use their second time out when UTSSU level the scores at 19-19.

Back on court and UTSSU step it up a level now thanks to the Skinner boys, both Dough & Jeff hitting the kills, this time into the Heat's court, up 22-19.  Matt Tyrrell replaces Jordan Power for the Heat.  A net voliation by Borgeaud gives UTSSU set point, and they sub in Bart Vonhoff for Tutty.  Andre Borgeaud winds up from the outside and sends it deeep cross court for the kill.  Steve Currie comes in as a serving sub for Farrer.  And again another net violation by the Heat gives UTSSU the point and the set, winding it up 25-22.

Set 2
Heat - Beck, Young, Borgeaud, Power, Farrer, Tyrrell, C Currie (L)
UTSSU - Salvin, J Skinner, Carroll, Suckling, Flexman, Vonhoff, Doran (L)

This set starts the same as the last one, both teams siding out on every point and no one team gaining the advantage.  At 6-5, Jordan Power looks to hit the ball down the line and misses the mark giving UTSSU 7 points.  Heat Coach Boyes calls for a time out.  Langford replaces Power for the Heat.  UTSSU still up by 2 points, as a ball handling error is called on Dan Tyrrell to give UTSSU another point, socre is now 10-7.  Jeff Skinner finds the gap between the triple block on the combo play as he hits the metre ball over the quick.  Flexman shuts our Borgeaud and then Farrer has trouble controlling a tough ball off his fingers.  All this giving UTSSU a greater lead, now 13-8.  Avi Chand replace Dan Tyrrell for the Heat.  Another hitting error for the heat, this time from Farrer.  He is replaced by Matt Tyrrell.  UTSSU lead 15-9.

UTSSU have a commanding lead as its all about the Heat trying to play catch up on the score board.  Borgeaud is doing as much as he can with an incredibly fast arm and those skill kills.  Jordan Young and Nils Langford are also winning some points.  At 19-14 up, UTSSU call for a time out.

Salvin back to serve for UTSSU and he delivers an ace. More changes for the Heat, Steve Currie replaces Borgeaud.  BUt it looks like a hard task from here, the Heat trail 14-22.  A great one handed wuick behind set from Suckling to Carroll gets UTSSU to 23.  Jordan Yound comes up with the kill block on Jeff Skinner and he is pumped.  Bart Vonhoff, through the middle for the kill and UTSSU have set point.  Vonhoff almost got the block on the tip from Langford to finish the set, but it just lands out.  Canberra serving 18-24.  Net touch from Suckling and the Heat save 1 set point.  But they give it away with a serve out the back and UTSSU take the set 25-19.
