Volleyball Australia's Board re-appoint Joan Perry as CEO
Volleyball Australia (VA) President the Hon. Chris Schacht announced today that the VA Chief Executive Officer Ms. Joan Perry had been re-appointed for a further 3 year term beginning from 1 January 2010. Mr. Schacht said he and the VA Board were unanimous in re-appointing Joan Perry for a further term.
Joan has made a considerable contribution to improving the performance of VA in both the administration and team performance since being appointed in August 2007.
The board, in late 2009, carried out a thorough review of Joan’s performance as CEO. In all areas of VA, the board noted improvement. In areas such as financial management and reporting, staff management and consultation and communication with all of our key stakeholders, Joan exceeded her KPI’s.
Since being appointed, Australian Volleyball has achieved international success such as:
- Australian Men’s Volleyball team qualified for the 2010 World Championships in Italy – the fourth consecutive occasion our men have qualified for World Championships
- In Beach Volleyball, senior and Junior men’s and women’s teams since 2007 have achieved podium finishes at the international level and represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
- We have more women competing at the senior indoor level than ever before
Despite the World Financial Crisis which has affected commercial sponsorship opportunities in Australia for volleyball, Joan oversaw the running of the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Tour Event in Adelaide in March 2008. She ensured that the highest level of volleyball and beach volleyball competition continues to be available to our athletes despite the lack of major commercial sponsorship.
The VA Board is very confident that Australian Volleyball will continue to grow under the leadership of Joan Perry as CEO.
