Volleyball SA dominate the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships
After three beautiful days on Glenelg Beach for the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships, the home state Volleyball SA have dominated the Medal Rounds and claimed the Andy Burdin Shield back from last year’s winners Victoria.
The South Australian teams have come away with 3 Gold Medals with Halliday/Sibbons in the U17 Mens, Salder/McEwen in the U17 Womens and Moore/Moore in the U19 Mens divisions, as well as Silver to Rankin/McKenzie in the U19 Mens and Bronze to Rowe/Pohl in the U17 Womens divisions.
The Western Australian’s have also stamped their name onto these championships, with all 4 teams in the Under 23 Mens division finishing in the top 4 position helping them to take second place in the behind South Australian for the Champion State.
In the Under 23 Womens division, defending champions Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Katie Bartoli have easily taken the Gold Medal to win back to back titles, an amazing effort for the two youngsters aged 16 and 18 respectively playing up in the top age group.
The U19 Womens division was a QLD v VIC affair, with Clancy/McKinnon (QLD) defeating the 4th seeds Morrow/Stajanovic to claim the Gold Medal, while team mates Ryder/Schulz (QLD) defeated Hynes/Sloane (VIC) for the Bronze.
