Aus Youth Beach Teams depart for World Champs in Croatia
The Australia Youth World Championships Beach Volleyball team will be departing Australia today Monday, for their European tour in preparation for the 2011 FIVB World Youth Championships Beach Volleyball (U19) to be played in Umag, Croatia June 22 – 26.
The athlete group is a real mix of youthful experience led by Mariafe Artacho Del Solar who has won the past three National Championships U23 along with multiple top 5 finishes on the Australian Beach Volleyball Series and three first time European tour athletes (Brad Millers, Max Staples and Maddie Clarke). The squad will be hosted by the Netherlands Volleyball Federation (Nevbo) and Beach Team Holland (BTH) with a training camp and series of tournaments with the Netherlands Junior squad. One of the highlights outside of playing in the WYC in Croatia will be the 3 day visit to Rome, Italy for the FIVB Senior World Championships in Rome to cheer on and support our AUS senior teams.
