“The Most Engaged Summer Sport in Australia”

At the Volleyball Australia (VA) National Stakeholders meeting held on the 27 and 28 October 2012 the Board of VA and the Presidents and Executive Directors of the State Volleyball Associations endorsed VA’s Australian Beach Volleyball Tour (ABVT) as the nationally sanctioned tour for 2013. The 2013 to 2016 quadrennial planning for the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour is also now well engaged as we commence the review process of our High Performance Programs and the review of our beach volleyball programs and activities.

With VA only recently assuming the responsibility to run the tour, the tour dates and venues are substantially settled and all administrative matters for the ABVT are now being finalised. The 2013 ABVT is being positioned by VA as the ‘Most Engaged Summer Sport in Australia’ with a renewed focus on live to audience activation opportunities for the sport, improved delivery of sport and athlete services, greater involvement of our State Associations and local affiliated clubs and associations.

Tour Dates and Venues

Note: all dates are supported and approved by VA’s affiliated State Associations relevant to their state event and there is a stated intent to expand the ABVT in future years to all affiliated States.

VA is now engaged to work with local sponsors and service providers to enhance the local activities, accommodation and related sport services to participants and to encourage a commitment to event legacy for each ABVT event with the local community. A comprehensive program of activities, including technology based activation with spectators and supporters, sponsors and participants, as well as new programs to encourage enhanced PR and media demand for our sport will be introduced in 2013 which we look forward to announcing over the coming weeks. We anticipate launching the Tour in December and announcing our sponsors, activity schedule and comprehensive eventing details at that time.
