Volleyball CONNECT

Sports CONNECT is an initiative of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Disability Sport Unit (DSU) and stands for Creating Opportunities Nationally through Networks in Education, Classification and Training. It is designed to create greater opportunities for people with a disability to participate in sport and physical activity.

It is with great pride that The Australian Volleyball Federation announces its participation in the Sports CONNECT program. This ASC initiative is aimed at increasing development, accessibility to, participation in, awareness and competition of sport for athletes with a disability. The Australian Volleyball Federation is committed to adpoting and implementing this invaluable concept and believes that volleyball CONNECT is a key element to including disciplines not currently involved under the umbrella of conventional volleyball.

The Australian Volleyball Federation is committed to providing opportunities for people with a disability in the form of 3 key disciplines including sitting, standing and deaf volleyball. The AVF is excited about the prospect of further developing the support provided to athletes already participating in these streams of volleyball and those looking to join the sport.
