2008 OLYMPICS GAMES

Andrew Schacht and Josh Slack
Natalie Cook and Tamsin Barnett

The teams representing Australia at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing for Beach Volleyball are Natalie Cook and Tamsin Barnett in the women's competition and Josh Slack and Andrew Schacht for the men.  Both teams are currently ranked 10th in the world and are consider medal prospects.

The Beach Volleyball competition is being held at Chaoyang Park, to the south-east of the Olympic Green.

The coaching and support staff help our athletes at these games will be Craig Marshall, Carlos Galletti, Tim Rawlins, Mick Nelson and Simon Naismith.

From Simon Naismith in Beijing, "Our two teams have had their one and only centre court training familiarisation session on Monday. All athletes love the facility at Chaoyang Park, and are looking forward to playing in front of a capacity 12,000 seat stadium. Conditions over here are warm and humid however our teams believe that we are very acclimatised to these conditions by playing all over the world in similar types of weather conditions in Asia, South America, and Australia (Queensland)."

"Over the next 48 hours we will continue our training sessions in preparation for the start of competition on August 9th, and on Thursday night is the Australian Olympic Team Reception."

The Beach Volleyball competition starts on Saturday the 9th of August with Cook-Barnett up against Uryadova-Shiryaeva (RUS) and Schacht-Slack against Geor-Gia (GEO). For all the Match times and results, follow the links above.
